Mission Bay is 6-1 against San Diego since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Buccaneers will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Cavers at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mission Bay barely beat Morse the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Buccaneers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Buccaneers, who have now won five games in a row.

Abigail Nelson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lani Freeland, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Siobhan Ascherfield also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Mission Bay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, San Diego got the win against San Ysidro on Wednesday by a conclusive 19-6.
Like Mission Bay, San Diego also got a great game from a two-way player: Diana Martinez. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Martinez was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Natalie Alvarez was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison McNamara, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
Mission Bay's record now sits at 7-3. As for San Diego, their record is now 10-8-1.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mission Bay has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like San Diego struggles in that department as they've averaged .478. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mission Bay got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against San Diego by a conclusive 19-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buccaneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
