Coronado is 8-2 against Widefield since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Gladiators at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Thursday, Coronado made easy work of Palmer and carried off a 13-6 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.
Tysen Noll was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Noll was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Turner Whitney, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Coronado's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 2-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Oliver Freiling, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Widefield entered their tilt with Harrison on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Panthers 11-4.
Like Coronado, Widefield also got a great game from a two-way player: Ethan Braun. He struck out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave Braun a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Nick Prantl was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Brody Gizzi was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Widefield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Coronado's record is now 6-10. As for Widefield, their record now sits at 9-7.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Coronado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Widefield struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
