Parkwood is 1-9 against West Stanly since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Wolf Pack will challenge the Colts at 4:30 p.m. Parkwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Parkwood's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Anson with a sharp 12-0 win. The Wolf Pack haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Parkwood got a great performance from Chloe Purgason as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Brinley Parker was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayce Marvel, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Parkwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, West Stanly waltzed into their matchup last Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Scorpions.
Madi Whitley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Payton Watson was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Laney Tucker, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
West Stanly pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Parkwood, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Parkwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like West Stanly struggles in that department as they've averaged .377. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Parkwood suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to West Stanly when the teams last played back in March. Can the Wolf Pack avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
