Basketball Recap: Triangle Math & Science Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jailen Hawkins and Tahlil Farah

Triangle Math & Science played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 74-51 to the Chatham Charter Knights. The Tigers have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Triangle Math & Science had strong showings from Tahlil Farah, who went 10 of 17 en route to 22 points and six rebounds, and Jailen Hawkins, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 16 points. Those 22 points gave Farah a new career-high.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chatham Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brennan LaVelle, who went 6 of 9 en route to 17 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe McKoy, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 13 points.

Triangle Math & Science's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Chatham Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Triangle Math & Science Tigers challenge the Eno River Academy Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chatham Charter, they will challenge Clover Garden School at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chatham Charter is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
