The McCurdy Bobcats will head out to square off against the Raton Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in McCurdy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last six contests.
On Thursday, McCurdy got the win against Mora by a conclusive 17-5. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won 16 matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Celestino Salazar-Archuleta and Cruz Martinez were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Salazar-Archuleta pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Martinez pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Salazar-Archuleta has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Salazar-Archuleta went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Martinez went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. McCurdy is 16-1 when Salazar-Archuleta posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Carlos Garcia was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 12 games. Another player making a difference was Ethan Bolton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
McCurdy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. They are a perfect 17-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Raton challenged Pecos on Saturday. The Tigers came up short against the Panthers, falling 13-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered against the Panthers since May 4, 2016.
Camron Edmondson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Chase Middlebrook was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
McCurdy is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Raton, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-11.
Raton's pitching crew better be locked in on Wednesday. McCurdy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. It's a different story for Raton, though, as they've been averaging only 0 home runs. Will they be able to keep McCurdy in the park?
McCurdy was able to grind out a solid victory over Raton when the teams last played back in April of 2018, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
