Baseball Game Preview: Magee Trojans vs. Taylorsville Tartars

Magee and Taylorsville are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Magee Trojans will host the Taylorsville Tartars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Magee knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Taylorsville likes a good challenge.

If Magee beats Taylorsville with 12 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Magee beat Jefferson Davis County two weeks ago by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-1. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Jeremiah Cole was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Timothy Craft was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Taylorsville was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They came up short against Seminary, falling 8-1. The Tartars have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Magee's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Taylorsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Magee suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Taylorsville in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Magee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
