The Alamo Heights Mules will head out on the road to face off against the Lanier Voks at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Alamo Heights knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Lanier likes a good challenge.
Alamo Heights scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 73-30 victory over Jefferson. Given Alamo Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Jefferson is ranked 1326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Talaiyah Andrews and Sophia Zadel were among the main playmakers for Alamo Heights as the former dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 28 points and 17 rebounds. Andrews set a new season high mark in assists with five. Berkley Hart was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Lanier took a serious blow against Burbank on Tuesday, falling 79-29. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lanier in their matchups with Burbank: they've now lost three in a row.
Alamo Heights has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Lanier, they bumped their record down to 4-16 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
