The Columbia Tigers will face off against the Fort White Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Columbia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Columbia took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Branford by a score of 14-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their two-run performance the match before.
Harleigh Price was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kimber Long, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luisa Taylor, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Fort White waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Raiders.
Like Columbia, Fort White also got a great game from a two-way player: Kadence Compton. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Compton was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those RBI were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Adisynne O'Quinn was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Fort White pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Columbia, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Both Columbia and Fort White just can't seem to miss. Columbia has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Fort White struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Columbia skirted past Fort White 2-1 in their previous matchup back in February. Will Columbia repeat their success, or does Fort White have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
