6A District 1 recap November 5, 2013
Pine Forest moved up to 237 from 285 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 6A District 1. The Eagles were able to move up by defeating Pensacola 21-20.
Washington lost to Escambia 63-10 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Pine Forest's dynamic duo of Reid Gilliland and Raymond Teamer proved tough for the Tigers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gilliland threw for 64 yards and 1 touchdown and Teamer had 40 yards receiving. Kenneth Burroughs helped Pine Forest's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
Danikeei Hollowell was a beast in the backfield as the Gators topped the Wildcats.
Hollowell was a passing and rushing force as Escambia beat Washington.
Thanks to the talents of Daniel Smyers and Quaide Weimerskirch, Pace has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Smyers is tops in the league in passing with 724 yards, while Weimerskirch has rushed for 2,163 yards this season. Jerry Pollard's team's Burroughs leads the league in receiving yards with 320 on 28 catches.
Milton made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,328 from 4,353. The advance stemmed from a 21-14 victory over the Patriots last week.
