The Mounds Golden Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss. They were beaten by Summit Christian Academy 59-29. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mounds in their matchups with Summit Christian Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Mounds lost, one person who can't be blamed is Baylie Harig. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Harig scored 15 or more points. Tayah Steinman was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Leading Summit Christian Academy to victory were Trinity Garnatz and Valeria Hill. Garnatz dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while Hill scored 28 points along with three steals. Hill has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Sloat, who scored six points along with four steals.
Mounds' loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Summit Christian Academy, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Mounds will be playing at home against Haskell on Friday. Summit Christian Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Porter on January 19th. Porter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Summit Christian Academy is ranked 120th).
