The Leechburg Blue Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Jeannette Jayhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Leechburg has struggled recently with eight losses in a row, while Jeannette will arrive with three straight wins.
Leechburg suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 60-30 loss at the hands of Springdale. Leechburg has struggled against Springdale recently, as their contest on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Leechburg's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayden Floyd, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Tim Skeel who scored five points along with five rebounds. Floyd hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Meanwhile, Jeannette stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard last Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 72-39 victory over Riverview. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Jeannette has posted against Riverview since February 7, 2017.
Jeannette's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaiah Mallich, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mallich has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Markus McGowan, who scored 15 points.
Leechburg's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Jeannette, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Leechburg might still be hurting after the 55-29 defeat they got from Jeannette in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Leechburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
