Volleyball Recap: Daniel Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Emily Gilstrap and Lydia Chasteen

Daniel and Pickens squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Daniel had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Flame. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Blue Flame: they've now lost four in a row.

While Daniel ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 25-17.

Despite the loss, Daniel had strong showings from Lydia Chasteen, who had 12 digs and 11 assists, and Emily Gilstrap, who had 14 assists and eight digs. Gilstrap is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Kelsey Gosnell also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Daniel's defeat dropped their record down to 27-9. As for Pickens, their victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 29-4.

Daniel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pickens, they will take on Wren on Tuesday.
