The Idaho Falls Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight defeat. They were beaten by Hillcrest 87-41. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Idaho Falls in their matchups with Hillcrest: they've now lost eight in a row.
Idaho Falls lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bradley Elison, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tegan Sorenson, who scored 14 points.
Leading Hillcrest to victory were Ike Sutton and Isaac Davis. Sutton scored 21 points, while Davis dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Davis has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Talan Taylor, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Hillcrest used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Idaho Falls. Brey Steffensen made the most of the opportunity, scoring eight points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Idaho Falls dropped their record down to 1-19 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Hillcrest, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-6.
Idaho Falls will be playing in front of their home fans against Bonneville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Idaho Falls focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Wednesday. As for Hillcrest, they will head out on the road to face off against Shelley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hillcrest's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 contests.
