The Gayville-Volin Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Centerville Tornadoes at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Gayville-Volin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Gayville-Volin came up short against Andes Central/Dakota Christian and fell 59-46. Gayville-Volin has not had much luck with Andes Central/Dakota Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite their loss, Gayville-Volin saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Maia Achen, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Taylor Hoxeng was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Centerville waltzed into their match Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 65-33 victory over Avon. Fans of Centerville have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Gayville-Volin's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1. As for Centerville, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.
Gayville-Volin took a serious blow against Centerville when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 54-26. Can Gayville-Volin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
