The Glenmora Wildcats will take on the Northwood Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Glenmora is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
It was a proper cat-fight when Glenmora duked it out with Buckeye on Wednesday. The Wildcats came up short against the Panthers, falling 14-1.
Avery Fuller was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Northwood made sure to put some runs up on the board against Rapides on Wednesday. The Gators blew past the Mustangs 11-3. Considering the Gators have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kelsey Bennett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.
On the hitting side, Northwood got a massive performance out of Alaya Cornett, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, two triples, and three runs. What's more, Cornett posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Micheala Bolden, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Northwood moved to 12-10 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Glenmora, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Glenmora hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. However, it's not like Northwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Glenmora took their victory against Northwood when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 13-2 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
