Even though the Central Cobras have not done well against the Vero Beach Indians recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Central secured a 40-36 W over Vero Beach. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Central.
Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was AQUNAIS WEST out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of HARMON RANDOLPH, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Vero Beach lost, one person who can't be blamed is Camryn Reid. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reid has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Davionne Stinson, who scored eight points.
Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Vero Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will take on Okeechobee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Okeechobee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 388th, while Central is ranked 97th). As for Vero Beach, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Treasure Coast at 7:00 p.m. Treasure Coast is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
