Basketball Recap: Chayse Gallo Key Part of a Team Effort in Firebirds Win

After losing to Surry HomeSchool the last time they met, Phoenix Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Phoenix Academy Firebirds came out on top against the Surry HomeSchool Runnin' Patriots by a score of 59-50 on Monday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Phoenix Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chayse Gallo, who posted 18 points. The game was Gallo's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenesis Storey, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Surry HomeSchool still got an impressive performance from Heath Clark, who put up 26 points. Another player making a difference was John David Bunke, who had nine points.

Phoenix Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Surry HomeSchool, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Phoenix Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-34 loss against Westchester Country Day on the 9th. As for Surry HomeSchool, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-41 defeat against South Charlotte on the 6th.
