Softball Recap: Crowley Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Crowley waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Elton Indians get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Gent have won nine matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Zailey Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, China Williams was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Zoe Giles was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Crowley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

Crowley's record now sits at 12-10. As for Elton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crowley will take on Abbeville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Elton, they will challenge South Cameron at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians will need to watch out since the Tarpons have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
