Last Friday, Van Vleck's game was all tied up 20-20 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Brazos and snuck past 37-34. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Van Vleck has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Corey Austin, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Hector Mares was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Danbury's nine-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They took down Harmony School of Discovery 71-53. Danbury's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Van Vleck has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Danbury, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-20.
Van Vleck strolled past Danbury in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 42-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Van Vleck since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
