Hacienda recap October 29, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to West Covina, who took down 221st ranked Bonita, 26-14.
Adding to the longest winning streak in Hacienda this week, Diamond Ranch beat Rowland 30-28. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Panthers.
Diamond Ranch's dynamic duo of Xavier Beltran and Zory McThomas proved tough for the Raiders to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Beltran threw for 86 yards and 51 touchdowns and McThomas had 69 yards receiving. Mateo Rodarte helped Diamond Ranch's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 13 yards.
Estuardo Marcos was a beast in the backfield as Los Altos beat Walnut.
Marcos provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Conquerors defeated the Mustangs. Marcos' key target this week was Amir Avery, who caught 4 passes for 39 yards.
He was 6-11 with 0 interceptions.
Diamond Bar's Tyler Peterson and Cordell Broadus led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Peterson has thrown for 1,389 yards this season, while Broadus has 51 catches for 560 yards. Payton Jake from the Bearcats leads the league in rushing with 896 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Bonita takes on Los Altos. Adrian Medrano's team is currently in third, while Dale Ziola's team is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when the Bearcats and the Conquerors face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Bonita comes in having scored 272 this season, while Los Altos has scored 282. The Bearcats scored 14 points last week as they lost to the Bulldogs.
Walnut scaled the state rankings by moving to 626 from 655 this week, the biggest jump in Hacienda. Michael O''Shields' team climbed the ranks as a result of losing to the Conquerors 37-14.
