Softball Recap: Vela Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Vela had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Rowe Warriors. This was a revenge game for the Sabercats: when they faced off against the Warriors back in March, they had to take a 13-12 loss.

Emma De La Cruz was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Mendoza, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Vela's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Rowe, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Vela will head out to square off against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Sabercats are facing the Javelinas at the right time seeing as the Javelinas are stuck on a six-game losing streak. Rowe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
