Softball Game Preview: St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders vs. Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) Stallions

The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders will be taking part in a tournament against the Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) Stallions at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Last Thursday, St. Thomas Aquinas didn't have quite enough to beat Palm Beach Gardens and fell 5-4. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Gators recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Lavinia Miller was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Victoria Brunette and Sara Wrzosek did some serious damage despite the final result: Brunette scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Wrzosek went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Summer Givens, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They came out on top against Miami Christian by a score of 15-10 on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Stallions as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Katelyn Champion and Leilani Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Champion scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4, while Gonzalez scored three runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Gonzalez has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taylor Rebhan, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) back to even at 3-3. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

St. Thomas Aquinas couldn't quite get it done against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 as they fell 5-1.
