Baseball Recap: Platt Has No Trouble Against New Britain

Platt barely beat New Britain the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers put the hurt on the Golden Hurricanes with a sharp 9-1 victory on Thursday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Giovanni DeMatteo made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Dylan Link was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and three RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Hunter Sincovic was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Platt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Platt's record now sits at 11-4. As for New Britain, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-6 record.

Platt will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Golden Hurricanes: the pair will be back at it again later today.
