The West Mifflin Titans lost against the Montour Spartans on January 2nd, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. West Mifflin suffered a tough 71-49 defeat at the hands of the Spartans. While losing is never fun, West Mifflin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Spartans are ranked 17th).
Montour got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jake Wolfe out in front who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds. Wolfe is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 21 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ama tening Sow, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds.
West Mifflin's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Montour, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.
West Mifflin will head out on the road to challenge the Quakers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Quaker Valley will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Montour will take on the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Moon Area knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully the Spartans likes a good challenge.
