Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The St. Edward's Pirates, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. Their rough 41-21 defeat to Out-of-Door Academy on Thursday might stick with them for a while. St. Edward's lost against Out-of-Door Academy in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 36-14 score last time.
St. Edward's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nate Sparkman, who threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns.
Allen Clark was his usual excellent self, rushing for 210 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also throwing for 41 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Clark was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Meyers, who gained 103 total yards and a touchdown.
St. Edward's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Out-of-Door Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-5.
St. Edward's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Out-of-Door Academy will face off against Lighthouse Private Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Lighthouse Private Christian Academy is ranked 500th, while Out-of-Door Academy is ranked 483rd).
