Mentor Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They managed a 66-60 win over Lawrence Upper. The win was just what Mentor Christian needed coming off of a 69-40 defeat in their prior matchup.
Lawrence Upper's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Bell, who scored 20 points. Bell has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played. Max Samac was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Mentor Christian's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Lawrence Upper, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mentor Christian will square off against Grand River Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grand River Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Mentor Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lawrence Upper, they will head out on the road to take on Horizon Science Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Ohio (Horizon Science Academy is ranked 801st, while Lawrence Upper is ranked 807th).
