The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They walked away with a 64-53 victory over Eastside. That's another feather in the cap for Blue Ridge, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Blue Ridge was led to victory by Claire Skinner and Zikira henderson. Skinner scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while henderson scored 21 points along with two steals. Henderson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Anyah Henderson, who scored eight points along with eight assists.
Eastside lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Laila Harvey, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harvey has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylan Hickman, who scored 14 points.
Blue Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Eastside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.
Blue Ridge will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Broome at 6:00 p.m. As for Eastside, they will head out on the road to face off against Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Riverside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Tuesday.
