The Norborne Pirates were the 45-43 winner over the Chilhowee Indians when they last played one another back in January of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. Norborne was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 52-51 to Chilhowee. Norborne's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Norborne saw an underclassman step up: Zach Deitch scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Deitch scored a full 29.4% of Norborne's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Braydon Cook was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Norborne's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Chilhowee, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norborne will be home for the holidays to greet Tri-County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tri-County is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Chilhowee will be home for the holidays to greet Climax Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
