Abington Heights let Thomas LaCoe and Evan Gonzalez run wild. LaCoe got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs, while Gonzalez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases LaCoe has posted since back in April of 2024. Noah Kayal was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Abington Heights always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Scranton not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8, 2024 (when they won 7-0). They put the hurt on Mid Valley with a sharp 8-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.
John Montoro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Matt Elliot was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Bartlebaugh, who earned one run and three stolen bases.
Abington Heights has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Scranton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Abington Heights hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. It's a different story for Scranton, though, as they've only averaged .216. Will they be able to contain Abington Heights' hitters?
Everything went Abington Heights' way against Scranton in their previous matchup on April 2nd, as Abington Heights made off with a 17-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
