While Hondo's victory against Natalia wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Owls narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Mustangs 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Owls have posted against the Mustangs since February 21, 2022.

Rudy Alvarado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaxson Williams, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Josiah Quintanilla, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Hondo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Natalia struck out ten times.

Hondo has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Natalia, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hondo will square off against rival Cotulla at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Natalia is set to take on their familiar foe Lytle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
