Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Johnston's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Johnston on Friday. They strolled past the L'Anse Purple Hornets with points to spare, taking the game 67-48. That's more bragging rights for the Speedboys, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the loss, L'Anse still got an impressive performance from Sam Lee, who went 6-for-11 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and six rebounds. Lee's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Keegan Davidson, who posted four points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Johnston is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points over those games. L'Anse dropped their record down to 9-13 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home.

Looking ahead, Johnston will square off against Ewen-Trout Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ewen-Trout Creek will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Johnston surely won't give up without a fight. As for L'Anse, they will be playing at home against Hancock at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
