The Asheboro Blue Comets''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. Their rough 48-27 loss to Ledford might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Asheboro in their matchups with Ledford: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Asheboro lost, one person who can't be blamed is HAMZA KHAN. Despite the final result, he threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns.
Alex Sanford got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 423 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 12.4 yards per carry. Sanford is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played.
Asheboro's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Eastern Randolph and 6-3 Southwestern Randolph (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75% over those games). As for Ledford, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Asheboro will head out on the road to face off against Montgomery Central at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Montgomery Central is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Ledford, they will look to defend their home field on October 27th against North Davidson at 7:30 p.m.
