The Clinton Prairie Gophers will face off against the Attica Red Ramblers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clinton Prairie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Clinton Prairie barely beat Eastern the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gophers put the hurt on the Comets with a sharp 11-3 win on Tuesday. 11 seems to be a good number for the Gophers as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Sadie Weliver made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Keera Grizzle and Brenna Riley did most of the damage at the plate: Grizzle went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Riley went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave Riley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kadie Fearnow, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Clinton Prairie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastern only posted a batting average of .207.
Meanwhile, Attica had just enough and edged out South Newton 3-2 on Monday. The Red Ramblers haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Anni Reynolds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Joslyn Barnett was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Hayden Nichols was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Clinton Prairie and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Attica, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Attica's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clinton Prairie has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. It's a different story for Attica, though, as they've been averaging 12.8 hits. Given Clinton Prairie's sizable advantage in that area, the Red Ramblers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Clinton Prairie came up short against Attica in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 8-5. Will the Gophers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
