The Mynderse Academy Blue Devils will head out to take on the Wayne Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mynderse Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.7 runs per game this season.
Mynderse Academy will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Monday, then bounced right back against Newark on Monday. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 17-9 margin over the Reds. Considering the Blue Devils have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

04/22/25 vs Penn Yan Academy | 5 |
Isabella Burlew spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mercedes Santana, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Danielle McDermott was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Mynderse Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Wayne ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against Aquinas Institute by a score of 14-10. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Little Irish recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Myia Eskander was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over ten innings while giving up seven earned (and two unearned) runs off 13 hits. Eskander was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, Sam Ray and Zoe Eaton did most of the damage at the plate: Ray went 4-for-6 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Eaton went 3-for-6 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Ray also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Savannah Celso, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Wayne pushed their record up to 6-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mynderse Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Wayne's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mynderse Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Wayne, though, as they've been averaging 10.1 hits. Given Mynderse Academy's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mynderse Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Wayne in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 14-13. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
