The West Lincoln Rebels are taking a road trip to take on the R-S Central Hilltoppers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
West Lincoln was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against East Burke on Friday. The Rebels put the hurt on the Cavaliers with a sharp 13-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won nine in a row.

Gabrielle Wright made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kaitlyn Carpenter and Stacia Cowan did most of the damage at the plate: Carpenter scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Cowan scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Kaylin Pardo was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
West Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, R-S Central waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Bearcats.
Like West Lincoln, R-S Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Maeli Crain. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Crain has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Lillie Beheler was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Corean Booth also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
West Lincoln pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for R-S Central, their record now sits at 13-3.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like R-S Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .371. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West Lincoln came up short against R-S Central when the teams last played back in May of 2022, falling 5-1. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
