Basketball Recap: Jaleigh Fred's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mcqueen over Douglas

McQueen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. The matchup between them and the Douglas Tigers didn't end well, with the McQueen Lancers falling 70-54. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-18 back in December of 2024.

McQueen's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaleigh Fred, who posted 16 points and five steals. That's the most points Fred has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Audrey Baumgardner, who went 5 of 12 en route to 15 points.

Ashlyn Greenfield was her usual excellent self, going 8 for 19 on her way to 21 points and five steals for Douglas. Greenfield is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played. Giana Zinke was another key player, putting up nine points.

McQueen's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Douglas, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8.

McQueen has already played their next contest (against Carson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Douglas has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Reed.
