Basketball Recap: Colonial Heights Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

The third road game was the charm for Colonial Heights, as they earned their first road win of the season. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 67-50 victory over the Nottoway Cougars on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Colonials, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading Colonial Heights to victory were Cartier Coleman and Cameron Hartsoe. Coleman almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards, while Hartsoe went 5 of 12 on his way to 20 points and four steals. Those 22 points gave Coleman a new career-high. Bret Lipscomb was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Colonial Heights' win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for Nottoway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colonial Heights won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Prince George at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Nottoway will take on Lunenburg Central in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Lunenburg Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
