The St. Monica Mariners had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 28-21 victory over Walnut on Friday. The win was nothing new for St. Monica as they're now sitting on five straight.
Despite the loss, Walnut still got an impressive performance from Demetrius Stampley, who rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
St. Monica has yet to lose a game on the road this season, leaving them with a 11-3 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.7 points per game. As for Walnut, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7.
St. Monica will head out on the road to face off against Sweetwater at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sweetwater is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. Walnut does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
