After a string of five wins, the Pomeroy Pirates's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 49-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of DeSales. Pomeroy has struggled against DeSales recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Pomeroy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Oliver Severs, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Trace Roberts, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Pomeroy's loss dropped their record down to 17-4. As for DeSales, they pushed their record up to 20-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
Pomeroy will take on Garfield-Palouse at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for DeSales, they will head out on the road to face off against Oakesdale at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Oakesdale has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 322 points over their last five contests.
