Basketball Game Preview: Cooperstown Hawkeyes vs. Poland Tornadoes

The Cooperstown Hawkeyes will take on the Poland Tornadoes in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Poland is hoping to do what Sauquoit Valley couldn't on Thursday: put an end to Cooperstown's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Cooperstown really took it to Sauquoit Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 90-38 win. Fans of the Hawkeyes have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cooperstown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cooper Bradley, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Bradley also racked up four steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Brody Murdock, who went 6 of 14 en route to 17 points and four steals.

Cooperstown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Poland put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Copenhagen with a sharp 62-42 victory. The Tornadoes pushed the score to 50-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Golden Knights cut but never quite recovered from.

Cooperstown's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Poland, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 3-0.
