Rich Township snuck past Crete-Monee with a 44-38 win. Given Rich Township's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Crete-Monee is ranked 275th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rich Township to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sherrie Emmons, who scored 15 points along with 9 rebounds. The match was Emmons' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was E'Mani Spencer, who scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Rich Township's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Crete-Monee, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Rich Township will be playing at home against Thornton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Crete-Monee, they will head out on the road to face off against Bolingbrook at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bolingbrook is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
