After a string of six wins, the Christian Academy Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Providence by a score of 44-41. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Christian Academy in their matchups with Providence: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Joshua Renfro, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Chancey, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Christian Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Christian Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-2. As for Providence, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christian Academy will take on Evansville Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Evansville Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Christian Academy in Indiana (Evansville Christian is ranked tenth, while Christian Academy is ranked 94th). As for Providence, they will head out on the road to square off against South Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in South Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches.
