Softball Recap: Gobles Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

It was a proper cat-fight when Gobles took on Marcellus on Saturday. The Tigers blew past the Wildcats 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 19 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Erica Barber made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Daisy Jackson was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Killeen, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Gobles kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.

Gobles' victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 22-7. As for Marcellus, they dropped their record down to 10-17 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

As of now, neither Gobles nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
