While it was all tied up 27-27 at halftime, the Proviso West Panthers were not quite the Proviso East Pirates's equal in the second half on Monday. Proviso West fell just short of Proviso East by a score of 47-44. Proviso West has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Proviso East found their leader in underclassman Zulema Montoya, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Amyiah Dunbar was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Proviso West dropped their record down to 5-14 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Proviso East, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-13.
