Elsie Earll was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zoe Zavala, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Iris Adams, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Heritage Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Imagine Prep Coolidge's good fortune finally ran out last Tuesday. They lost 20-8 to Heritage Academy.
Peyton F was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Tayden C, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Imagine Prep Coolidge's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Heritage Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Heritage Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Imagine Prep Coolidge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Heritage Academy got the 'W' in their previous matchup last Tuesday against Imagine Prep Coolidge by a conclusive 20-8 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Heroes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
