Aimee Reina was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
North Hollywood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .756. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Reseda came out on top against Van Nuys last Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Regents were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over the Wolves. The win was nothing new for the Regents as they're now sitting on three straight.
Like North Hollywood, Reseda also got a great game from a two-way player: Helene Salazar. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Salazar was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Reseda got a massive performance out of Jhoana Moreno, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Fuentes Thereze was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Reseda now has a winning record of 7-6. As for North Hollywood, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Reseda's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. North Hollywood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Reseda, though, as they've been averaging only 4.2 strikeouts. Will North Hollywood keep running through batters, or will the Regents buck the trend?
Everything went North Hollywood's way against Reseda in their previous matchup back in March, as North Hollywood made off with a 14-3 win. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Regents have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
