Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clearview). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging an 83-56 win over the Black River Pirates. Leading Clearview to victory were Quavion Grant and Cy Christensen. Grant went 11 for 16 en route to 27 points, while Christensen went 10 of 15 on his way to 23 points and four steals. Christensen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Armelin, who posted ten points and six boards.
Despite the loss, Black River saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zane Kristophel scored 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kristophel has scored all season. Zyan Griffin was another key player, putting up 12 points.
Clearview now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Black River, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
Clearview will head out to take on Keystone at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keystone will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Clearview surely won't give up without a fight. As for Black River, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cloverleaf at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cloverleaf knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Black River likes a good challenge.
