The Liberty Leopards lost against the Champion Golden Flashes back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Liberty was dealt a 59-16 loss at the hands of the Golden Flashes. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 744th, while the Golden Flashes are ranked 291st).
Champion's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isabella Meyer led the charge by scoring 18 points along with four steals. Meyer hasn't dropped below four steals for three straight games. Kayla Haynie was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.
Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Champion, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Liberty will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Memorial is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Champion, they will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
