Cape Fear has gone 8-2 against Gray's Creek recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Colts will take on the Bears at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cape Fear lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Jack Britt, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Colts were the clear victors by a 20-12 margin over the Buccaneers on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Nick Serbio looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cape Fear let Jackson Rainey and Brycen Talley run wild. Rainey went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs, while Talley got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Cape Fear is undefeated when Talley posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Wallace, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Gray's Creek had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Falcons 14-3.
Gunner Sterling was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Dalton Williams was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Gray's Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Gray's Creek pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Cape Fear, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.
Cape Fear came up short against Gray's Creek in their previous matchup on Friday, falling 6-1. Can the Colts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
