Softball Recap: Barker Wins Going Away Against Akron

Barker won the last time they faced Akron and things went their way on Monday too. The Bulldogs blew past the Tigers 9-1. Considering the Bulldogs have won four contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Mady Flint made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Bradley, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Kaylee Stoll was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Barker kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Barker's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Akron, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Barker is set to take on their familiar foe Newfane at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Akron will face off against rival Wilson at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
